What is the Portrait Skin Resurfacing procedure?
A topical anesthetic is first applied to the patient’s face to numb the area before treatment. This keeps the patient pain-free during the procedure. There may be a slight warming sensation during the procedure, but this is not painful.
During the treatment, Dr. Beaty uses a handpiece that transfers the nitrogen energy to the skin on the face. Because the plasma affects the underlying layers of the skin, there isn’t any need for dressings afterward.
What are the side effects of the procedure?
Patients can get right back to their typical activities. Low-level treatments may produce some mild skin redness, itching, and flaking, but these pass in a couple of days.
For deeper treatments, there will be a few days of downtime, as the outer layer of skin browns and sheds three to five days after your session. As the skin rebuilds, this evens out pigmentation and age spots disappear. It also diminishes wrinkles and lines.
